Scholarship Overview
Applications are now open for the 2027/2028 DAAD/EPOS Scholarships. The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) has selected the MSc Environmental Governance (MEG) as a development-related postgraduate course, and the programme is offering a limited number of EPOS scholarships.
Candidates will first be selected by the MEG programme committee. In a second step, DAAD will review the selected candidates and make the final decision. This is a highly competitive application process with strict requirements.
Applicants must meet both the DAAD EPOS requirements and the admission criteria for the MEG programme. The scholarship application must be submitted one year before the start of studies (15 October 2026 for studies beginning October 2027). The application for the MEG programme and the scholarship are linked, meaning that one set of documents serves both applications.
The DAAD EPOS scholarship targets young professionals from developing (DAC) countries who meet specific eligibility requirements. Applicants must hold an academic degree obtained within the last six years at the time of application and have at least two years of relevant professional experience after their bachelor’s degree. Internships and voluntary work are not considered relevant professional experience. Academic work such as teaching or research at universities is generally not counted as relevant work experience, except in very exceptional cases.
Applicants are expected to have an above-average academic record, typically within the top third of their graduating class. In addition, candidates must not have resided in Germany for more than 15 months prior to applying. Those who already hold a master’s degree must provide a strong justification explaining why they require another postgraduate qualification.
All application documents must be compiled into a single PDF file and submitted via email. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Reference letters must be sent directly by referees to the designated email address and not through the applicant.
